Divemaster
Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational diving begins with the PADI Divemaster program. Working closely with one of Aquabilitiy's own instructors you will expand your dive knowledge and your skills to the professional level.

Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

During your Divemaster program, you will learn dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. You will complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organise and solve problems relating to supervising divers.
You will put this knowledge into action through an internship or series of practical training exercises.

Prerequisites

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organisation)
  • PADI Rescue Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organisation
  • 20 logged dives

Minimum age: 18

Requirements

  • $100.00 deposit, balance of course fees are due at the first session of your course
  • Manual read and knowledge reviews completed
  • Two passport sized photographs

Course Schedule
The course is run over a time frame to suit both the student and Aquability. A qualified Aquability instructor will individually take each student and plan out the course from start to finish with them. This allows students to allocate time to their training, and progress through the course in a manner that they are comfortable with.

All Divemasters will have the opportunity to assist in the Aquability's Summer Snorkelling program and lead the shore diving program

During the Divemaster course you will:

  • Learn dive leadership skills through classroom sessions and by using the PADI Divemaster Manual and Video.
  • Complete a series of waterskills and stamina exercises in confined and open water environments.
  • Complete the three required training exercises that test organisational and problem solving abilities.
  • Map a dive site, including underwater and surface features
  • Equipment exchange: demonstrate the ability to solve unanticipated problems underwater
  • Conduct a simulated or actual class, under the supervision of a PADI Instructor
  • Internship: hands-on experience supervising and assisting divers in actual PADI programs, under the guidance of a PADI Instructor
