TDIAdvanced Trimix

This course provides the training required to competently and safely utilize breathing gasses containing helium for dives that require staged decompression, utilizing Nitrox and/or oxygen mixtures during decompression to a maximum depth of 100msw.

The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures of utilizing custom oxygen / helium / nitrogen mixtures as breathing gases.

Advanced Trimix - Training Prerequisites

  • Be a minium age of eighteen (18)
  • Have a minium certification of Extended Range or Trimix Diver.
  • Show proof of a minium of one hundred (100) logged dives.

Trimix - Minimum Equipment Prerequisites

  • Must have twin primary tanks (volume appropriate for planned dives and either independent or manifold with appropriate SPG(s))
  • Primary tanks fitted with two 1st and 2nd stages and contents gauge
  • Appropriate BCD
  • SMB and reel with 15m of 3mm line (tube style - colour orange).
    Appropriate thermal protection
  • Two depth gauge and bottom timers (or two computers) or
  • Computer with 2nd depth gauge and bottom timer)
  • Compass, wrist slate and pocket slate
  • Primary mask and backup mask
  • Primary torch and backup torch
  • Line cutting device x 2
  • Primary penetration reel
  • Back up reel
  • Two sling tanks fitted with 1st and 2nd stages and SPG suitable for use with mixtures of up to 100% oxygen and properly labelled.
  • Second SMB (tube style - colour yellow)
  • Second reel with 100m of line.


Course Structure:

  • Three nights theory (Four decompression dives is required with a minimum accumulated bottom time of 100 minutes.)
  • At lest 2 dives should be deeper than 55metres.
