Euro – 4th May 2025

Divers: Matt, Seb, Nath, James C, Ben, Youri, Simon, Ian , Chis P & Mark

The forecast had been looking good all week, as we drove down the highway the winds were just as the forecast said it would be  – 25knot northerlies. Perfect conditions for diving in the grave yard, but getting on board the boat at Portsea took a little bit negotiation.

Once on site the seas were oily flat, albeit the viz was down down to about 5metres in the top 20metres, however, once below 20metres the viz improved to about 15metres. The Euro was one of the first graveyard wrecks that I dived & back then, some 35years ago, the Euro was in great condition, with the helm still in place. An anchor dropped through the hatch on the bow, used to tow the Tug Boat out to the grave yard & the stern in perfect conditions. One of the hight lights of the Euro was the penetration, the full length of the boat and swimming past the Triple Expansion Steam engine. At the end of the day the 6.20am departure  😳😳 was more than worth the effort of getting out of bed 🙂 .
