Norfolk Island has always held a fascination for a lot of people, me included, with its rich history of earlier colonisation and its reputation as being the most penal of all of the convict settlements, and also from its relationship with the descendants of mutineers from HMS Bounty.

When the opportunity came up for us participate in a GIRT Scientific Divers course here on Norfolk Island, we all jumped at the chance. The two & a half day course has given us all a greater understanding of the requirements of gathering data for a photogrammetry project. Something that we all look forward to using in our diving on our return. Apart of the training was the opportunity to dive on the HMS Sirius, the flagship of the First Fleet. Although the conditions were less than ideal on our dive day, we did manage a dive & what a great experience it has been, especially for our newer divers.
