Canberra & J4 Sub – Sunday 25th August 2024

Divers: Matt, Mitch, Mark, David & Mark

We knew the weather going to change mid afternoon, but as we loaded the boat the conditions were really good. Our first dive was the Canberra, the viz was good but there is still some plankton hanging around in the water, the surge wasn’t too strong but we could certainly feel it. Being a larger site, there was plenty of space for all the divers, which was lucky because the dive boat was very full. Always a favourite, the J4 Sub was a great dive, we entered through the ‘break’ & swam toward the stern, our bottom time was limited & we didn’t have time to get to the crew’s quarters – so we have planned a return trip to complete the job :).
We surfaced 40 minutes after we entered the water & as we did the conditions had certainly changed. The westerly wind had come through early & whipped up the water. Fortunately there wasn’t any fetch & although it was sloppy at the surface there was no swell.
