Canberra & J4 Subs – Saturday 17th August 2024

Divers: Matt, Mitch, Carl, Mark, David & Mark

Conditions could not have been better as we prepared to load the boat for our day of diving. Motoring out through the Heads, it is difficult to believe that this now benign piece of water can be one of the worlds most treacherous stretches of water. We had 30m viz on the Canberra & no surge, the J4 viz wasn’t quite as good but still great, it had some plankton in the water that gave it a milky tinge.
Hanna our boat driver did a great job of putting the shot right next to the conning tower, thus maximising our bottom time, by not having to swim through full length  of the sub just to get to the bow.

Conditions are looking great again this weekend & we are really looking forward to getting out. This is a great time of the year to be diving, the water conditions are superb, no one on the roads, parking is easy, short queues for coffee & the boats are only half full :).
