Rye Pier had been closed for nearly 12 months & only just opened for diving last month. It’s my favourite site for OW training due to its easy access in & out of the water. However, it is a long walk & now it’s even longer, with the renovations taking the stairs to the low landing away & replacing them with ramps. I thought maybe with all the renovations the sea life may have of disappeared, however to our surprise there was an abundancy of aquatic life about, including a Gummy Shark & dozens of 11 Arm Sea Stars which was inspiring to see. The viz was about 8m & with 20 degree water, conditions were almost perfect.
