Sri Lanka – 9th -16th September 2024

Divers: Jane (Photographer), Deborah (Tour Leader), Artur (Pro Dive Sydney), Warrick, Ian (VSAG)   & Mark

At the invitation of Dive Planit, Classic Sri Lanka & Sri Lanka Airlines our group travelled to the east coast of Sri Lanka to experience the diving opportunities of some of the local dive operators. We had a lot to fit into 4 days of diving & not a minute was wasted as we travelled from Trincomalee to Passikuda. The diving in Sri Lanka is very uncomplicated and the operators are very passionate about their local areas. We dived both the British Sargent & SS Lady McCallum. Both are very good dives, but my favourite was the SS Lady McCallum, a 1926 iron steamer, she ran aground in 16 metres of water. Another great dive was the Navy Underwater Museum, which is made up of a couple of scuttled boats & several pieces of artwork sculptures. Ian & I decided we would attempt to do photogrammetry of one of the statues.
